Bombay Stock Exchange is one of the largest stock exchange market situated in Mumbai, India. History of Bombay Stock Exchange

BSE is the Asia’s first stock exchange market. It all started in the year 1855 when a group of five stock brokers used to sit in front Mumbai’s Town Hall. As the number of broker’s increased, the location kept changing until they finally shifted to Dalal Street in the year 1874. By the year 1875 it emerged officially by the name “The Native Share and Stock Broker’s Association”. It was only in the year 1957 that the Indian Government gave BSE recognition under the Securities Contract Act. BSE later shifted to Phiroze JeejeeBhoy Towers where its overall exchange performance increased tremendously with the onset of BSE Sensex Index. This Sensex Index opened new avenues in the trading arena with equity derivatives in the market. Another milestone was achieved by the BSE in the year 1995 when it adopted to the latest technologies in the trading system along with CMC Ltd. The BOLT or the BSE –ON –LINE –Trading can work on 8 million orders per day on its automatic trading screen. Investor’s from all over the globe can easily trade with BSE because of its centralized exchange based trading system.
